Mike Conway

I research and teach journalism and media history at Indiana University-Bloomington.* Much of my research involves the rise of radio and television news in the United States in the twentieth century. My new book, Contested Ground: "The Tunnel" and the Struggle over Television News in Cold War America comes out later this year. I also wrote The Origins of Television News: The Visualizers of CBS in the 1940s.

I was born and raised in the Pride City of Terre Haute, Indiana, the Crossroads of America. I spent close to 20 years in broadcast news, at television stations around the country, doing about every job in the newsroom including photographer, reporter, news and sports anchor, producer, and news director.
